Turning a $500 ranger into a $150,000 Baja truck... then tragedy struck

Donut takes a hard look back at the Ranger build that started as a $500 work truck and turned into a $150,000 desert racing machine. The goal was to create a Baja-ready weapon, but the desert punished every weak point—radius arms snapped, alternators failed, body panels cracked, and parts shook loose. The biggest lesson was simple: without real endurance testing, even expensive builds will break. Despite the chaos, the Baja Blaster still managed to finish and take first in class. Now they’re rebuilding the weak points and planning to race it again.

When Ha-Go tanks ambushed M3 Stuarts

On December 22, 1941, five American light tanks rushed toward Japanese forces on Luzon and soon found themselves in the first tank battle between U.S. and Japanese forces. The Americans initially had the advantage in armor and firepower, with enemy shells repeatedly bouncing off their vehicles, but jammed guns, inexperienced crews, concealed Japanese positions, and a bold ramming attack quickly complicated the fight. One American tank was crippled after the collision and later penetrated through a weak spot, while additional Japanese tanks arrived and forced the remaining Americans to withdraw. Surrounded and unable to continue fighting, the stranded crew eventually surrendered and spent the next three years in captivity. Pasted text

This is the largest self-powered vehicle on Earth... and NASA built two of them

Before a NASA rocket can blast into space, it first has to make an incredibly slow journey aboard one of the agency’s enormous crawler-transporters. Weighing roughly 2,700 tons each, these machines were originally built during the Apollo era to carry Saturn V rockets from the Vehicle Assembly Building to the launch pad, and they later performed the same job for the Space Shuttle. Despite their enormous size, they can precisely position their cargo within fractions of an inch while carrying loads of up to 9,000 tons. Traveling at less than 1.6 kilometers per hour, a crawler can take six to eight hours to reach the launch pad - but after more than half a century of service, these massive machines remain an essential part of NASA’s space program.

Watch what happens when a car outruns the wind behind it

It sounds impossible: a vehicle powered only by wind traveling faster than the wind itself. But with a clever design using wheels and a propeller, this machine extracts energy from the moving air in an unexpected way. Instead of acting like a sail, the propeller pushes air backward, allowing the vehicle to accelerate beyond wind speed. The result is a counterintuitive demonstration that challenges how most people think about motion and energy.
